Hackathon & Accelerators
Over the course of the past few years, I have organised and executed, or been involved in a number of different accelerator and hackathon programs.
Stanford university & Lendlease Launchpad
Lendlease and Stanford collaborating on delivering an accelerator program for some early-stage startups within Lendlease. The accelerator was based on the Launchpad program at Stanford. The 40 teams and mentors worked with the professors for 10 weeks leading up to the selection week. The top 6 teams then went on to participate in the final week of validating and pitching which was held in Lendlease’s HQ in Sydney.
CSIRO On Innovation Program
Helping teams of scientists and academics in the ON Prime accelerator program to validate their research through design thinking, UX, building entrepreneurial capacity and commercializing opportunities. I helped the team to do UX research that validated their idea within several key target market groups and mentored the team through the design thinking process to evolve their product through prototyping and iterative design. This resulted in them creating an effective go-to-market strategy which secured them a spot in second stage accelerator program.
Affordable Housing Hackathon - Lendlease
In 2016 I designed and Delivered Lendlease’s first hackaton to try and tackle the challenge of affordable housing in Australia. It was run over 2 days with 85 participants, 10 teams, 15 mentors, 8 guest speakers and 5 judges including both Lendlease CEOs.
Future of Retail Hackathon - Lendlease
In 2017 we held Lendlease’s second hackathon to look at the impact trends were having on the retail sector and Lendlease’s retail portfolio. The participants worked on challenges including how to remove the frustration of the arrival and departure experience and how we can transform retail centres into lifestyle precincts to compete with retail giants such as Amazon.
